SUMMARY:Fachgespräch: Wohin mit dem CO2? - Onshore-Speicherung im Blick
DESCRIPTION:  \nDass die CO2 Abscheidung und Speicherung (CCS) und negative Emissionen für die Erreichung der Klimaschutzziele nötig sein werden\, wird mittler­weile breit disku­tiert. In Deutschland war die politische Debatte über die Speicherung von CO2 allerdings viele Jahren festge­fahren. Durch die Ampel­regierung wurde sie in den letzten Jahren wieder in den Vorder­grund gerückt. Zum Beispiel wird aktuell über die Speicherung von CO2 unter der deutschen Nordsee disku­tiert. Die Speicherung an Land wird trotz großer Poten­ziale\, vor allem in Norddeutschland\, und regionaler Bedarfe von heimischen Indus­trien\, politisch weitest­gehend abgelehnt. Doch die onshore-Speicherung könnte langfristig eine große Rolle dabei spielen\, die nationalen Klimapfade\, inklusive des Ziels netto-negativ zu werden\, zu erreichen und lokalen Indus­trien beim Weg zur Klima­neu­tralität zu verhelfen. \nDa die voraus­sichtliche neue Bundesregierung eine Novelle des Kohlen­dioxid-Speicherungs­ge­setzes (KSpG) disku­tiert\, wollen wir uns mit Ihnen dazu austauschen\, was der aktuelle Stand der CO2-Speicherung an Land ist\, welchen Recht­srahmen es braucht\, wie die Poten­ziale und Bedarfe aussehen und welche Rolle Deutschland langfristig bei der europäischen CO2-Speicherung spielen kann. \nAnmeldung: bei Interesse an einer Teilnahme der Veranstaltung kontak­tieren Sie gerne julia.hoennecke@libmod.de

DESCRIPTION:The Center for Liberal Modernity\, the Ukrainian Institute in Germany\, and the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter cordially invite you to a panel discussion on how Ukraine’s history has shaped its place in Europe with historian Paul Robert Magocsi. \nRussia’s 2022 unlawful invasion of Ukraine changed global geopol­itics. For the first time in the 21st century\, a so-called great power has launched a full-scale war on its smaller neighbour\, thus upending the post-Cold War order on both sides of the Atlantic. In a broad discussion\, Prof. Paul Robert Magocsi will explore what the war has exposed about Ukraine’s place in Europe\, how it has shaped relations between Ukraine’s many ethnic and linguistic groups\, what blind spots in Europe’s commem­o­rative culture became apparent through the war\, and what the future may hold for Ukraine. \nPaul Robert Magocsi is Professor of history and political science at the University of Toronto\, where (since 1980) he also holds the profes­sorial Chair of Ukrainian Studies. He is a Board Member of the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter\, a Canadian chari­table nonprofit organization. \nModerator: Prof. Stefan Troebst\, former Director of Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe. \nIntro­ductory remarks: Dr. Kateryna Rietz-Rakul\, Ukrainian Institute in Germany\, and Marieluise Beck\, Center for Liberal Modernity. \nDiscussion language: English.\nThe event will be followed by a small reception. \nPlease register online.
