DESCRIPTION:Der Postlib­er­al­ismus? Eine transat­lantische Debatte\nMit Adrian Pabst\, Julian Nicolai Hofmann und Karolina Wigura\n  \nSehr geehrte Damen und Herren\, \nin unserer Veranstal­tungsreihe “Der Liber­al­ismus und seine Kritiker” disku­tieren wir zentrale Einwände gegen liberale Ideen und Politik. Besondere Aufmerk­samkeit gilt derzeit dem sogenannten Postlib­er­al­ismus – einer politischen und intellek­tuellen Strömung\, die grundle­gende Annahmen der liberalen Ordnung infrage stellt und längst über akademische Debatten hinaus Wirkung entfaltet. Mit dem Sammelband Postlib­er­al­ismus? Eine transat­lantische Debatte ist jüngst im Suhrkamp Verlag eine umfassende Darstellung dieser Diskussion erschienen. \nGemeinsam mit unserem Partner\, der Katholischen Akademie in Berlin\, möchten wir die Debatte vor Ort weiter­führen. Wir wollen erkunden\, was sich hinter dem Begriff Postlib­er­al­ismus verbirgt\, welche unter­schiedlichen politischen und theoretischen Strömungen sich darunter versammeln und welche Kritik sie am Liber­al­ismus formulieren. Vor allem aber möchten wir fragen: Was bedeutet der wachsende Einfluss postlib­eraler Ideen für die Zukunft der liberalen Demokratie? \nUnsere Gäste sind der postlib­erale Vordenker Adrian Pabst von der University of Kent\, Julian Nicolai Hofmann von der Univer­sität Marburg\, Mither­aus­geber des Sammel­bandes\, sowie Karolina Wigura\, Senior Fellow bei LibMod. SUMMARY:Public Discussion "Russia and the West" – Save the date!
DESCRIPTION:The recurring discus­sions about peace talks with Moscow are essen­tially flawed. Although Russia’s military and economic situation is becoming increas­ingly difficult\, the Kremlin is showing no willingness to make peace. Putin remains bent on victory and no end to Russia’s war of aggression is in sight. \nFor Europe\, it remains essential to support Ukraine so that it is strong enough to make Russia end the war. At the same time\, Europeans need to strengthen their defence capabil­ities and security cooper­ation in order to ensure their own long-term security even without US support. Ukraine is a corner­stone of Europe’s future security architecture. \nAlthough an end to the fighting is not foreseeable right now\, Europe must prepare for what comes after­wards. Without funda­mental change in Russia\, a ceasefire will neither change the repressive nature of the regime nor limit Moscow’s ambitions\, which go far beyond Ukraine. \nAgainst this backdrop\, the Center of Liberal Modernity is holding its annual public discussion “Russia and the West” on October 14. This year’s subtitle is “Europe’s Security and long-term Russia Strategy”. The event follows our annual expert conference held on the same day. \nThe debate will focus on the main elements of a future Russia policy: Do we need to prepare for a long-term conflict while also offering avenues for condi­tional cooper­ation? Which demands should Europe make vis-a-vis Russia’s elites and what leverage do we have to give them weight? How can the West influence political devel­op­ments within Russia? \nDetails and the programme are forthcoming!
