According to Article 78 of the consti\u00adtution, all state bodies are obliged to ensure full EU and NATO integration. Prime Minister Kobakhidze committed a&nbsp;consti\u00adtu\u00adtional breach when he announced that negoti\u00ada\u00adtions on accession to the European Union would be suspended with immediate&nbsp;effect.<\/p>\n<p>The parlia\u00admentary elections on October 26, 2024, were massively manip\u00adu\u00adlated. The reports of the inter\u00adna\u00adtional election obser\u00advation missions point to vote buying, intim\u00adi\u00addation, violation of the secrecy of vote and numerous other irreg\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adities. The report of the Parlia\u00admentary Assembly of the Council of Europe doubts that the recent elections&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pace.coe.int\/en\/files\/33924\/html?fbclid=IwY2xjawHCe6dleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHYzUlzCxfd-OsqVHq_MxM6n3q6CbxMkjYuRTuytN_Mwn59hjflwllQmTnw_aem_HYJsCBE9LB_gegJVNqsuvw#_TOC_d624e716\">reflect the<\/a>&nbsp;will of the voters. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/delegations\/en\/joint-statement-on-the-georgian-governme\/product-details\/20241129DPU39689\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Parliament<\/a>&nbsp;has already&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/de\/press-room\/20241121IPR25549\/parliament-calls-for-new-elections-in-georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called for<\/a>&nbsp;new elections.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the protests, the author\u00adities have responded with excessive violence. Local and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/georgia.un.org\/en\/284954-t%C3%BCrk-calls-georgian-authorities-protect-freedoms-expression-and-assembly-amid-violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inter\u00adna\u00adtional human rights organi\u00adza\u00adtions<\/a>&nbsp;have documented numerous cases of inhumane treatment of detainees and dispro\u00adpor\u00adtionate use of force against peaceful protesters. Instead of having the rights of citizens protected, they are being system\u00adat\u00adi\u00adcally violated. In the face of these events, the Social Democ\u00adratic, Christian Democ\u00adratic and Liberal groups in the Parlia\u00admentary Assembly of the Council of Europe issued a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/alde-pace.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/2024_Joint-Statement-SOC-EPP-ALDE-leaders.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decla\u00adration on December 2<\/a>&nbsp;calling for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>new elections<\/strong>, that will take place without pressure and under free and fair&nbsp;conditions<\/li>\n<li>An immediate&nbsp;<strong>end to violence<\/strong>&nbsp;and the indis\u00adcrim\u00adinate detention of&nbsp;protesters<\/li>\n<li>The consistent intro\u00adduction of <strong>sanctions<\/strong>&nbsp;by European states against repre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives of the ruling \u201cGeorgian Dream\u201d party, including entry bans and asset&nbsp;freezes<\/li>\n<li>An immediate&nbsp;<strong>release of the detained&nbsp;protesters<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Respecting the mandate of Georgia\u2019s incumbent president<\/strong>&nbsp;until fair and free new elections are&nbsp;held.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We call on the German government to adopt these demands as its own and to work for their realization.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Georgia needs Europe now to defend its indepen\u00addence and freedom.
