Law professor Luchterhandt in Tagesspiegel: “Russia commits genocide in Mariupol”
Based on six criteria of the United Nations Convention against Genocide, Russia is committing genocide in Mariupol, says International law expert Otto Luchterhandt.
The classification under international law of the Russian siege and bombing war against the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol is clearly illuminated by Prof. Dr. Luchterhandt, a recognized authority on the subject. He concludes that this action falls under the United Nations Convention against Genocide. The situation in Kharkiv is similarly dramatic, with Odesa also threatened with encirclement by Russian troops. A negotiated peace will only come about if the West increases the pressure on the Kremlin.
