Europe’s Moment of Truth: Ensuring Ukraine’s Strength amid Uncertainty over the United States‘ Allegiance
The Center for Liberal Modernity cordially invites you to the online briefing “Europe’s Moment of Truth: Ensuring Ukraine’s Strength amid Uncertainty over the United States‘ Allegiance”.
Wednesday, 17 December 2025
15:00–16:00 CET
Zoom
Together with our distinguished speakers we want to address the flurry of negotiations surrounding a possible end to Russia’s war in Ukraine. What role should Europe play and what can we expect from the United States?
How serious are these diplomatic moves, and what should we be prepared for? How can Europe and Ukraine successfully shape the outcome of the negotiations?
Does Europe have the political will and the capacity to step up the support for Ukraine – if necessary, even without the United States – so that it can negotiate from a position of strength?
Or should we further try to find common ground with the Trump administration, despite its evident tilt toward Moscow? Finally, we want to explore whether the recent developments mark the de facto end of the transatlantic alliance, and what such a shift would mean for Europe.
Speakers:
Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference
Constanze Stelzenmüller, Director of the Brookings’s Center on the United States and Europe
Maksym Skrypchenko, President of the Transatlantic Dialogue Center
Moderator:
Ralf Fücks, Founder and CEO of the Center for Liberal Modernity
